Big Blue bring LB Antigha on board

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added a versatile piece to their defence on Thursday.

The club announced the signing of 6-2, 240-pound linebacker Tobi Antigha to a one-year contract. The 26-year-old from Tampa, Fla., is a three-year CFL veteran who had 20 tackles and two interceptions with the Toronto Argonauts last season.

Antigha played college ball with the Presbyterian College Blue Hose of the Big South Conference as a receiver. In 2017 he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the team converted him to a defensive end after they saw his athleticism in mini-camp. In two years in Saskatchewan, Antigha suited up in 35 games and had 51 tackles, seven sacks and three interceptions, one of which he took back for a touchdown. In 2017, the Riders named him their most outstanding rookie.

The Bombers have been relatively quiet in free agency thus far as they’ve been busy re-signing their own talent. Former Edmonton Eskimos defensive back Josh Johnson was the first new face to join the defending Grey Cup champs, signing a one-year deal with the team on Tuesday.
