General Teacher Contract – 1.0 FTE – Resource/Classroom Teacher

1.0 FTE Permanent Resource/Classroom Teacher commencing September 6, 2022.

This position is divided as 0.5 FTE classroom teacher courses include grade 8 and 9 science, grade 11 history, career development and 0.5 FTE resource teacher to provide support for grades 8-12. Prairie Rose School Division embraces a philosophy of inclusive and appropriate education for all children consistent with the standards outlined in Appropriate Educational Programming in Manitoba – Standards for Student Services

Qualifications:
• Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
• Completed Special Education Certificate (in progress may be considered)
• Experience providing resource teacher support in grades K-12.
• Familiar with program development and at-risk student intervention, while working within an established continuum of services framework.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Classroom Teacher Experience and Abilities:
• Experience, proficiency and understanding of middle years’ pedagogy and curriculum.
• Implement middle years’ outcome -based assessment and evaluation models.
• Effective differentiated instruction skills.
• Knowledge/ability to implement student services support.
• Demonstrate proficiency in information and communication technologies {ICT).
• Excellent organizational and classroom management.
• Work collaboratively and independently.
• Communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Familiarity with Google G Suite applications is considered an asset.
• Fluency (oral and written) in both official languages (French & English) is considered an asset.

Resource Teacher Experience and Demonstrated Abilities:
• Ability to enhance and promote student learning for students at all grade levels, to their families, and to educators.
• Collaborate and consult regularly with the In-School Support Team to ensure appropriate educational programming for all students.
• Guide classroom/school profile development.
• Approach early identification and support of students with learning and behaviour needs within the classroom setting (Response to lntervention -­ RTI).
• Directly support classroom teachers; through classroom-based coaching and modeling reflective of differentiated instructional coaching skills and approaches.
• Understanding of current Manitoba curricula and inquiry-based learning and our schools STRIVE program are considered an asset.
• Implement various assessment techniques and intervention strategies.
• Structure and guide/implement student specific plans {SSP) or individualized education plans (IEP) for learning and/or behavioural support
• Facilitate transition planning process support for students with special needs.
• Lead educational assistants and coordinate their work schedules.
• Act as a liaison with school clinical services, third party agencies and consultants.
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, parents and students to maximize learning.
• WEVAS and First Aid are considered an asset.
