Assistant Controller

WABER is a modern rapidly growing and successful metals fabricator located midway between Winnipeg and Carman.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support our Controller by performing an evolving set of accounting and controller duties. These duties include accounting data entry, transactions entry, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivables, reconcile accounts, prepare financial reports and any other accounting-oriented duties as may be assigned by the Controller. This position reports directly to the Controller.

The Assistant Controller will also play a valuable and key role in the development of our systems and processes necessary for effective financial control and management of the organization as WABER Mfg. scales up in relation to the opportunities in front of it. The successful candidate must have at least 3-5 years experience working as a controller in a manufacturing environment. Since WABER is on a steep growth curve, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with the other members of Team WABER are considered a crucial asset. Salary dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities.
Assist with accounting and finance related processes and procedure development, including implementation.
Process transactions, prepare checks and other forms of payment, updating ledgers, budgets, etc. and resolving any discrepancies
Prepare financial reports and assist with payroll function.
Assist with recruitment as may be requested.
Performing basic office tasks, such as filing, data entry, answering phones, processing the mail, etc.
Handling accounting related communications with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in-person.

Ideal Attributes:
Minimum of 5 years accounting experience
3-5 years controller experience in a manufacturing environment
A designation (EG. CPA) is an advantage but not required
Proficiency with accounting software
Excellent time management, organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
A professional manner and strong ethical code.
Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
Some HR industry experience is also considered an asset.
