Corporate Controller

Buffalo Creek Mills was born from the desire to make a positive impact within the community of Altona and to serve our producers and our customers. Buffalo Creek Mills is a growing oat processing facility looking to expand our team. We are currently accepting applications for a Corporate Controller. This position is part of a team that works to support the safe and efficient operation of an oat processing plant that serves the human edible, pet food, and bird food markets.

Job Purpose:

The general purpose of this position is to be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and supporting the CEO in the implementation of the internal controls and monitoring systems necessary for efficient and profitable operation.

Key Responsibilities:

o Responsible to establish and manage a system of financial controls that facilitates effective decision making
o Responsible to provide status of corporate financial conditions by collecting data and reporting to shareholders, CEO, and management
o Responsible to prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
o Responsible to manage accounts receivable and payable
o Responsible for accurate implementation of payroll and the Payworks payroll system
o Responsible for the supervision of the Office Assistant
o Assist in the financial evaluation of new projects and initiatives
o Assist CEO in preparation of documents, reports and presentations
o Assist the team to maintain the accuracy of inventory, sales, and purchasing systems

Preferred Characteristics:

o Self motivated with ability to work independently and in a team environment
o Ability to lead a team toward the achievement of a desired goal
o Strong organizational skills
o Business accounting experience

Minimum Qualifications:

o Completion of relevant training (CPA or other financial management designation)
o Minimum 5 years of related experience
o Knowledge of computer software (spreadsheets, word processors, accounting software)
o Demonstrated administration and supervisory ability
o Drivers license

Employment:

o Full time, Monday through Friday
o Start date to be discussed
