Western School Division invites applications for the full-time permanent position of Human Resources Coordinator.
Reporting to the Secretary-Treasurer, the Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating Human Resources activities and functions in liaison with senior management, principals, supervisors and employees by providing timely support on day-to-day inquiries.
The key areas of responsibility include coordinating the recruitment process, job description updates, preparing the onboarding and orientation packages, assisting with health and safety activities, maintaining and updating employee records and employment status in the Western School Division information system. Conduct audits and prepares reports to Senior Management as requested. Support excellent communication channels with all peers and promote and maintain positive relationships between Western School Division and its employees.
In addition to remaining current with all applicable laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce established Western School Division policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field (human resources and/ or labour relations) field or a combination of education, and professional experience can be considered. The successful candidate will have two three years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in a unionized environment. The incumbent will possess expertise in the full-cycle recruitment process, HR administrative duties, health and safety, onboarding and orientation.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, as they will collaborate and consult with senior management, school administrators, supervisors, educators, employees and external clients and contractors representing the Western School Division. Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office is a must. CPHR designation, or progress made toward attaining that designation, is a definite asset.
The successful applicant will be required to travel to various school locations and universities, attending career fairs or other human resources-related events. Therefore, a condition of employment is that the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid full Manitoba Class 5F driver’s license and an all-purpose insured vehicle with appropriate liability insurance; an equivalent method of transportation to meet the travel requirements will be considered.
Applicants should be aware that the Government of Manitoba has recently announced significant changes planned for the K-12 education system and that the Western School Division acknowledges that the planned changes may have some impact on the division workforce.
A condition of employment with Western School Division is a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and an agreement by the applicant to disclose criminal record and/or Abuse Registry record information to the Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. The successful applicant must present this information prior to their first day of work.
