LEAD CNC TECHNICIAN

Sperling Industries Ltd. is seeking an individual to join our team who brings experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of various CNC controlled shop equipment. Key equipment includes a Cincinnati CL960 Fiber Laser, Flow Mach 500 Waterjet, Accurpress 500t x 14’ CNC brake, and a Davi MCA 3030 CNC Plate Roller. We are continually upgrading our equipment to keep up with the pace of technology and are looking for experienced people to learn and upgrade with us.

Summary
The Lead CNC Technician is ultimately responsible for the safe operation and ultimately reliability of CNC Equipment. We are looking for a capable individual with previous experience to take a lead on maintenance, repair and trouble shooting challenges and to operate our CNC equipment when things are running smoothly.
This position is based out of our main production facility located in Sperling, MB and will operate during our day shift. Pending good performance, the scope of the position may grow to include other CNC and conventional equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Plan and oversee parts production on CNC production equipment
• Trouble-shoot and repair as able issues on programing and mechanical issues on CNC equipment. Coordinate with outside service companies and technicians as required
• Develop, enhance and oversee a preventative maintenance plan on CNC equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance as required on CNC equipment
• Understand and manage policies on manufacturer’s warranty on equipment
• Learn and efficiently operate CNC equipment as required to fill in
• Organize and manage parts and consumables inventory
• Work with design staff in improving drawing and file creation to run more efficiently
• Assist with hiring process and training for other CNC operators on the operation and maintenance of equipment. Work with shop supervisor in managing operator human resources
• Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on workload

Education and/or Experience:
• Previous experience in the repair, maintenance, and trouble-shooting is a requirement
• Experience specifically with CNC Laser’s is necessary
• The following experience is an asset:
o Steel fabrication and/or welding experience
o CNC Programming
o Drafting and Modelling (2D or 3D)
o Mechanical and repair experience
• Understanding of available and common materials, types, sizes, and properties, in order to achieve high material utilization, economy, and performance
• Understanding of the engineering process and applicability, as well as creative problem solving

Compensation:
• Salary to be on an hourly basis. $25-$40/hr depending on qualifications and experience
• Overtime remunerated at 1.5x
