Chabot Enterprises Ltd. is a Winnipeg Heavy Construction company specializing in sand and gravel supply and delivery; roadway construction and earthworks projects. We are looking for the right person to join our team and take on this key role.

As part of the CHABOT team, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is part of the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the equipment maintenance program. The goal is to make sure that equipment is running efficiently, with adequate service and repair to minimize down-time. The person in this role is responsible for repair work, services and maintenance on heavy construction equipment and trucks/trailers.

Responsibilities & Duties

This role is multi-faceted; encompassing heavy construction equipment used in road construction and maintenance:

· Review and organize work to minimize equipment down time

· Analyze and identify defects in heavy equipment: excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, trucks, trailers

· Complete major and routine repairs and maintenance

· Test equipment for repair effectiveness and general fitness

· Document repair work

· Maintain equipment records and files

· Communicate with Operations Director, Supervisors and operators in a professional and team-oriented manner


· Red Seal Certification, preferred

· 5+ Years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment

· Valid Class 3 Driver’s License an asset

· Welding experience an asset

· Ability to lift 50lbs

· Strong technical knowledge

· Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot heavy equipment

· Positive attitude, strong work ethic and able to work with minimal Supervision

· Ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a faced paced environment

· Ability to communicate clearly verbally and written, with good computer knowledge

· Willing to take on challenges and responsibilities with a pro-active, positive attitude

This position is offered as a full-time (average 50+ hrs/week), permanent position, year-round, Monday to Friday day-shifts in summer season with availability for on-call shifts in winter. Suitable applicant must have reliable transportation to and from work as public transportation is not available.
