Job Title: Metals Recycling Yard Operator
Location: Winnipeg, MB

Job Overview:
As the Yard Operator, you will carry out a variety of tasks necessary to the daily operational needs of the Metal Recycling Yard. You will perform inspection of scrap materials, operate mobile equipment for loading and unloading operations, purchase both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, and also perform equipment maintenance duties.

In addition, the Yard Operator works alongside and communicates regularly with the Scale Operator, Yard Supervisor, and customers about the quality of material and shipping requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
• Operate mobile equipment for loading and unloading of scrap material.
• Inspect and verify scrap metal for quality and grade.
• Ensure that outgoing materials meet safety and quality standards.

• Non-ferrous material (copper, brass, aluminum, etc.) sorting, packing, and grading.
• Prepare and perform material removal via torching with a material handler.
• Assist with equipment repairs as necessary.
• Assist in monthly inventory counts.

Job Requirements:
• Reliable and able to commit to a Monday – Friday workday schedule.
• Ability to lift up to 50 Ibs when required.
• Comfortable working outdoors, including hot, cold, dusty, and windy conditions.
• Steel-toed boots, safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses, and work gloves are required equipment to be provided by the employee.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Health and safety valued mindset.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Mechanical/industrial/manufacturing experience is highly preferred, including experience working in a warehouse and/or outdoors.
• Ability to operate heavy mobile equipment (i.e. forklift, bobcat, man lift, cranes, etc.) preferred, but not required.
• A team player is critical; report to work on time; be productive.

$15.00 – $16.00 starting Wage
40 hours per week
Paid Weekly – Fridays by Cheque
