Packaging Production Manager

The Packaging Production Manager is responsible for the effective supervision of the think4D production staff and managing customer product to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met. In the course of their duties, the Packaging Production Manager will assist the Operations Manager in preparing budgets and related reports. Through the effective management of the manufacturing staff, production goals and production efficiencies, the Packaging Production Manager will ensure the ongoing success of the production floor.

The start date is yet to be decided and will be determined upon loading in the next few months.

Job Requirements:
– Formal Management Training (Degree or Certificate) preferred
– 5 years of book/packaging manufacturing experience preferred
– Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse, and transportation management
– Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
– Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control
– Experience in managing third-party service providers preferred
– Knowledge of software systems, Microsoft Office products, including Excel,
Word, and PowerPoint
– Flexible with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
– Able to maintain filing systems, databases, and basic diary/minutes management
– Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
– Resourceful with excellent analytical and problem solving skills
– Meticulous records maintenance skills
– Excellent Manual Dexterity
– Strong customer service orientation
– First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
– Together with the Operations Manager and other relevant management team members, actively participate in forward planning, projecting personnel requirements, and/or procedural changes and equipment requirements to achieve the production objectives
– Review goals with management and staff on a regular basis
– Together with the Operations Manager, carry out the policies of the company
– Direct the production of all packaging and related products at the think4D
– Division in an efficient and profitable manner taking into consideration customer requirements as it relates to quality, service and materials
– Make arrangements when necessary for the job to be routed to other divisions
– Implement Friesens Performance Management System with direct reports
– Provide service in the best interest of the customer and the company by directing scheduling of equipment, labour, job operations, expediting, and processing of production orders
– Establish planning programs, controls and standards to develop optimum capabilities of staff and equipment
– Prescribe the quality standards and measurements of all work produced
– Responsible for control of all spoilage and waste
– Responsible for scheduling production and determining plant loading together with the other Production Manager and Operations Manager
– Responsible to meet promised delivery dates
– Recommend and make adjustments to schedule for legitimate delays that are encountered
– Training of staff members in safe manufacturing methods and policies including identification and correction of potential work hazards and other health and safety issues
– Translate future schedules into labour requirements
– Direct all operations by delegating responsibility and authority appropriately
– Trouble shoot production problems or recommend corrective actions
– Develop new production methods and processes utilizing research and development programs and work simplification techniques
– Utilize and analyze productivity reports and keep direct reports apprised of productivity
– Responsible for obtaining authorization from the Operations Manager for additional costs that have been requested or that have been incurred due to unforeseen additions or alternations due to job
– Other duties as assigned
