The Manitoba government is seeking highly motivated Red Seal Plumbers to work with the Department of Central Services in Portage La Prairie, MB and surrounding area. This position offers reliable and full time employment with a defined pension plan. Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Red Seal Journeyperson Plumbing license.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with the ability to travel within the Province when required.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Vulnerable Persons Check and Security Check.
Must be physically capable of performing the required activities of the position, including working alone, under extreme temperatures or heights, in confined spaces, in a secure facility, and wearing personal protective equipment. 


  • Experience working with plumbing and heating systems in a large commercial, industrial and/or institutional facility.
  • Experience working with plumbing related legislated codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies and legislation.
  • Ability to plan and make effective work-related decisions. 
  • Organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.


  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience working with SAP or related Maintenance Management software.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems, including DDC or related systems.
  • A Backflow Preventer Certificate (Cross Connectors Testing), a “B” gas fitters licence and/or completion of Asbestos Abatement training.

The position performs the duties of a Journeyperson Plumber in Portage La Prairie and in the surrounding area, at owned and leased buildings within the District as required. The Plumber performs work on all plumbing and related systems, including maintenance, repair, rebuilding spare parts, renovation, and new construction.
