Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
  • Must have a Bachelor-level degree in Engineering (Civil) or equivalency recognized by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba. 
  • Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence. 
  • Must be able to travel frequently to work sites within the Province by ground and/or air transportation.
  • Must be able to work extended hours for periods of time as projects demand.


  • Experience with highway construction and design.  
  • Experience with human resource practices (i.e. training and development, coaching, labour relations, and conflict resolution etc.) 
  • Experience reviewing functional road design, detailed road design and other design documents.
  • Ability to plan and organize staff
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with other employees, the general public, contractors, provincial departments, agencies and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide appropriate technical guidance to others
  • Written communication skills with the ability to prepare written reports

Reporting to the Regional Technical Services Engineer (TSE), the Regional Design Engineer is responsible for assisting the Regional Technical Services Engineer to meet overall Regional objectives by providing engineering support to the Region in several key areas including preliminary surveys, functional designs, detailed roadway and drainage design, and traffic engineering issues and materials engineering support related to geotechnical studies, soil surveys, embankment and pavement designs and other related functions.
