The Strategic Innovation Unit supports the Department of Justice in leading, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating and executing strategic initiatives.

Post secondary education, preferably at the Masters level in a social science-related field (e.g. criminology, sociology). An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered
Experience researching, developing and evaluating programs and policies
Experience with strategic planning processes to support the organization through system and program changes
Knowledge of the Justice system, priorities and trends in Manitoba and Canada
Comprehensive knowledge of the Justice system and its related acts and regulations
Problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct analysis and develop solutions for complex issues
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong written communication skills demonstrated by experience preparing complex documents such as advisory notes, program reviews or proposals
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships and partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders
Organization skills with the ability to work within tight deadlines in a high pressure, fast paced, change driven environment
Strong leadership skills with experience in leading and managing complex projects
Political acumen and the ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive material and situations in an appropriate manner

Experience in supervising the work of others, with the ability to provide guidance and establish work priorities
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate and Strategic Services, the Senior Policy and Program Specialist has responsibility for advancing and providing strategic advice on the framework for Justice and public safety. This includes leading complex research, strategic analysis, coordination and implementation of major reviews and projects of the Department of Justice to ensure consistent delivery of services across Manitoba. The incumbent provides leadership, direction, support and supervision to project teams comprised of staff throughout the Department.
