Manitoba’s top doctor, health minister give update on COVID-19 in Manitoba

Manitoba’s health minister and chief public health officer will give a COVID-19 briefing Monday afternoon.

The news conference starts at 1 p.m. CT, and can be viewed on CBC Manitoba’s website, Facebook, Twitter or CBC Gem.

Monday marks the first day code orange restrictions are in effect in Winnipeg and 17 surrounding communities.

Masks must be worn in all indoor public places, and all gatherings — taking place inside or outside — have a 10-person limit.

There were 169 COVID-19 cases found in Manitoba since 9:30 a.m. Friday. Of those, 136 are in the Winnipeg health region.

As of Sunday, there are 589 known active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba, including 490 in the Winnipeg health region.

Thirteen people are being treated for the illness in hospital, including six in intensive care.

The number of people who have died due to complications of COVID-19 remained at 19 on Sunday.
